Spring challenge for Svatya: Together we set April in motion

With the arrival of spring came new energy - and together we turned it into movement. In April, we launched a movement challenge in support of Svatopluk Vavrys (Svati), which became not only a great opportunity to improve physical fitness and immunity, but above all a strong gesture of solidarity.

Every step counted - and you took thousands of them. Thank you for joining in and supporting a good cause.

In total, 70 employees participated and walked and drove over 16,000 kilometres, which the company valued at CZK 53,734, which will go to Svatý.

My name is Svatopluk Vavrys, they call me Svatya and I would like to tell you my story. I was born a healthy boy and my childhood was peaceful and trouble-free. I fondly remember my childhood in Mikulčice, where I come from. Because of my high school graduation, I started working at the age of 16 as a labourer. Later I got a job in the Zetor company in Brno.

One day I read a newspaper article about a job offer in the USA. Since I had no commitments in the Czech Republic and was open to new experiences, I responded to the ad. And so a new chapter of my life in America opened up. I started at a car wash in North Carolina, but worked my way up to waiter and cook at the renowned Ritz Carlton Hotel. I've had the privilege of serving star faces like Leonardo DiCaprio, Mick Jagger and Ozzy Osbourne. I spent more than five years in America.

After returning from America, I began to hear voices that made me attempt suicide. I was later diagnosed with schizophrenia. I now live in sheltered housing at the Domeček Psychocentre in Hodonín, where I have been staying for ten years. I like to reminisce about my life in America and the time before my illness. I used to like to exercise, explore new places, cook and play sports. At the moment my life is a bit monotonous, but my good mood and friendliness never leave me.

Because of my mental illness, I am unable to attend work, so I live very modestly. I have very few clothes and the only shoes I have are the ones I bought a few years ago. If I had some extra funds, I would like to update my wardrobe with new shoes, jackets and more modern clothes that will last longer.
