Places to relax and lots of greenery. The area in Lužice will be transformed into a modern technology park
Not just fix it, but improve it in every way. MND Drilling and Services has a plan to elevate the Lužice site - from a functional, landscape, technological and aesthetic point of view. The tornado caused more than a quarter of a billion crowns worth of damage. Three years on, virtually everything has been repaired. But it doesn't stop there. On the contrary.
The planned appearance of the site will also be fundamentally affected by the planned D55 motorway, which will replace the first class road with the same number. However, with the difference that there will be no exit - the northern access to the Lusatian area will no longer be possible. It is to be built between 2028 and 2032.
"Therefore, we will build a new freight gateway to use the new access to the site. The backbone route will also be changed to serve the individual storage areas," says MND Drilling and Services director René Kachyňa. The company stores over 1,000 pieces of equipment and other pipe material, the demands on logistics are huge. Communications are designed to make transport here as efficient and safe as possible. The width of the spine routes will be seven metres and the radius of the curves will be 12 metres.
The architects have put a lot of emphasis on greenery, sustainability and storm water management. In the southern part, the buildings will be fitted with trellises to green the plants. In the middle of the site, where there is currently an unused area, a park with trees and a "square" should be created, which will serve for employee rest and for organizing corporate and social events.
As far as storm water is concerned, it is currently diverted into the sewerage system. This creates a problem where it connects to the undersized municipal area. Once or twice a year during heavy rains, flooding occurs in the area of the railway line (behind the former HBZS). This should change in the future.
"We want to go the way of creating green belts where rainwater will seep. In the southern part, all the water from the roofs will be diverted into retention basins and used to water the greenery in the drier months," says Director Kachyňa.
The big challenge will be to manage the traffic in the area during the reconstruction, but we have already tried this during 2015-2016, when the first major revitalisation of the area took place.

Second well test of Dambořice 9
The last drilling here was in the summer of 2023. While the frogs were croaking then, now, at the end of winter, there are plenty of hares and deer roaming the surrounding fields. And in the evenings, beavers are regularly seen cupitating in the adjacent Burnt Creek.
