Bentec 450 at the planned dress rehearsal
During the first quarter of 2025, the Bentec 450 is undergoing a five-year inspection. The rig had to interrupt its drilling campaign in Hungary, where it has been operating since last year, to carry out this important part of its regular maintenance. The inspection itself is mainly carried out in Lusatia and partly in Bad Bentheim and Hungary. Once completed, the BT450 is expected to be recommissioned and the project will resume during April.
During the five-year inspection of the main parts of the B450 kit, the following was carried out:
- Complete Top Drive inspection, including replacement of critical parts such as main shaft, bearings. This was carried out completely by the manufacturer, Bentec,
Other equipment was inspected by MND DS in Lusatia.
- complete inspection of the flushing pumps, replacement of worn parts, NDT checks
- overhaul of Cathead (hydraulic breakaway), NDT checks, overhaul of hydraulic cylinders
- overhaul of Iron Roughneck ST-120, NDT inspections, repair of hydraulic elements, repair of kinetics
- Complete Crown Block inspection: sandblasting, NDT inspections, bearing replacement, repainting
- complete inspection of Travelling Block (hoist): sandblasting, NDT inspections, bearing replacement, coating
- Complete inspection of Dead Line Anchor: sandblasting, NDT inspection, bearing replacement, coating
- Complete inspection of Rig Floor Winches
- complete inspection of Rotary Table
Inspections included replacement and repair of the internal cooling in the VFD container.
The following measures were carried out on the rig stored in Hungary:
- Replacement of electrical cables on the Mud Tank System.
- inspections of steel structures and lifting points
- adjustment and inspection of injectors on Cummins main generators
- regular checks and inspections on other equipment and accessories of the B450
The shutdown also included fabrication and modification of the Rig floor to Trip tank scavenging drain.
- Production of individual parts was carried out in the Czech Republic
- the modification of the outlet and installation of the new parts was carried out in Hungary

MND drills geothermal wells for Košice
After years of preparation, the geothermal project has finally begun. The idea of heating Košice with geothermal energy had been in the works for many years. The first surveys in the Svinica–Ďurkov area were conducted in the 1990s and confirmed the extraordinary potential of hot water several kilometres below the ground. However, at that time, there was a lack of funding and political consensus to implement the project.
How geothermal energy works
Renewable energy sources have become a key topic in recent years. Everyone is familiar with solar and wind power plants, but there is another source that stands out for its stability, reliability and minimal dependence on weather conditions. However, it is not talked about as much
. Geothermal energy – heat accumulated in the Earth's crust – is one of the most promising types of clean energy, especially at a time when the need for stable, low-emission sources is growing.
MND drilling rigs conquer Europe
Foreign projects are a strategic pillar for MND Drilling & Services. They bring stable utilization of our rigs, long-term contracts and strengthen our position on the European market. They allow us to invest in upgrading technology, developing people and raising safety standards. And most importantly, we are proving that we can succeed in strong international competition and are among Europe's leading drilling contractors.
