AI in MND: From strategy to practice
AI, artificial intelligence. Two words that have been resonating not only in the world of technology for some time now, but are also increasingly penetrating our everyday working lives. AI is talked about, written about, discussed – but how do we actually use it at MND? And what does it mean for each of us?
Between the pipes and the vines: When MND leaders also lead the vineyard
This report brings you the first part of the interesting winemakers who work in our group. We start in Čejkovice, where father and son, Jiří and Petr Št'avík, cultivate their lines. Petr works in MND as the head of the mechanical department and Jiří is the manager of the Dambořice storage facility.
Comets, Perseids, meteors. Milan Pagac photographs the beauty of the night sky
During the day he looks underground and works on dynamic models of bearings, after work he takes his camera and looks up at the stars. In his spare time, MND bearing engineer Milan Pagáč is an astrophotographer. He combines two hobbies: photography and his interest in space observation, which has been with him since childhood. His pictures are well known to many MND employees - they have appeared in the calendars of Drilling, where Milan's wife also works.
Curling premiere in Brno: ice challenge with brooms
On Friday, March 28, after lunch, we left our desks and went for a completely new experience - to try curling. This seemingly quiet sport, known mainly from TV screens, quickly convinced us that "sliding stones on ice" is no fun.
Hydrogen is absolutely strategic, says Nano Advanced founder
First wild water, then green hydrogen. Pavel Srbecký and Jakub Drnec are the main figures of the startup Nano Advanced, which MND joined last year. The company is developing an innovative hydrogen generator that is tailored to renewable resources. Its advantages are high efficiency and, above all, a longer lifetime. According to Pavel Srbecký, production is sold out two years in advance - and that's before the final product is finished. Such is the current market interest in hydrogen production machines.
Start allowed! MND had fun in the air and on the ground
After a year we gathered again - colleagues, friends, members of one big MND family - to spend a day full of joy, experience and inspiration. This time we went to the heights - literally. This year's meeting was in the spirit of aviation and took place in a special place: the airport in Breclav.
Uncertainty in markets persists
In the last issue, I discussed the impact of the end of gas transit through Ukraine and concluded by stating that 2025 is a tight year in terms of balance. And how have markets developed since then?
Spring challenge for Svatya: Together we set April in motion
With the arrival of spring came new energy - and together we turned it into movement. In April, we launched a movement challenge in support of Svatopluk Vavrys (Svati), which became not only a great opportunity to improve physical fitness and immunity, but above all a strong gesture of solidarity.
We run for the Memory of the Nation - and we run great!
This year, for the first time, our company MND Drilling & Services joined the charity running challenge Run for the Memory of the Nation, organized by the non-profit organization Post Bellum. The challenge runs throughout May and aims to support the filming of remembrances of veterans, educational programmes for schools and help heroes who stood up to totalitarian regimes or are fighting for freedom today.
Second well test of Dambořice 9
The last drilling here was in the summer of 2023. While the frogs were croaking then, now, at the end of winter, there are plenty of hares and deer roaming the surrounding fields. And in the evenings, beavers are regularly seen cupitating in the adjacent Burnt Creek.
The life cycle of a borehole ends with reclamation. What does it involve?
The drilling and subsequent disposal of the probe is a fascinating process that can be likened to the life cycle from birth to death. Every well, whether exploratory or production, has its own life story. Repot is now bringing you a series that will present interesting reclamations of our specific sites one by one. But in this issue, let's talk in general terms about what such reclamation looks like, why it's done in the first place, and how much it actually costs.
The first well at Zukivska will be the most important thing this year. The reserves there are huge.
Successful development of the Tynivska licence, the Girska extension, the acquisition of Pivdeno Girska and the plan for the first well at Zhukyvska. MND has moved up a gear in Ukraine. And they are on track for further milestones. This year, the company wants to reach 150 million cubic meters of gas production in the country. Lukáš Svozil is in charge of MND's Ukrainian operations and spends much of his time on the road.
"Our success is built on two fundamental pillars that complement each other. The first pillar is a strong team in Lviv. The second is the great support from Hodonin," he says.
He believed in Tynivskaya's success, now Volodya Radelytskyi has the same feeling about Zhukyvskaya
Geology is often about experience and intuition in interpreting data. 3D seismic measurements may produce hard data, but they can reveal a lot, and the human factor still plays a significant role. Volodya Radelytskyi knows the underground structures of western Ukraine very well. It was he who strongly recommended that MND buy the Tynivskaya licence. The swampy area at first sight did not have such potential.
